Continue the Tour

Carry on up Hall Gate. Among the shops can be found many Georgian buildings, including some of imposing size further up the street.

Note the curved glass and restrained facia of the previously named DOWN QUILT HOUSE, on your left, surviving amid 1960's re-development.

Proceed from Cactus Jacks up Hall Gate, on the same side of the street, to the next building on the tour, which is on the corner of Hall Gate & Prince's Street.

The building is one of several survivors of the policy adopted by the Doncaster Corporation to create 'Rounded Corner' buildings in the town in the late 1700's.

The Doncaster Corporation would encourage property owners to convert their property to a rounded corner with financial incentives.
