Originally built as the Theatre Royal, it reopened in 1896 as Doncaster’s historic Royal Opera House. This famous theatre, located in the market place, witnessed performances from some of the nation’s greatest actors and performers. It was particularly popular during Leger Week and often attracted Royalty. It was built in 1776, and demolished in 1900 once the Grand Theatre on Station Road opened for business.
