SHOCKING ACCIDENT AT DONCASTER.
ON Thursday afternoon shocking accident occurred on the premises of Mr. David Leesing, pork butcher, Baxter Gate, Doncaster, resulting in the instantaneous death of Mr. Leesing.
Behind the shop workshop, and the time of the accident there were two employees on the premises besides Mr Leesing. Mr. Leesing was grinding cleaver at the grindstone, which is run on gas, and was seated on the edge of a bench leaning slightly over the grindstone. Suddenly the stone broke to pieces, and portions of stone were sent with terrific force an upward direction. Mr. Leesing was struck in the face and killed instantly, falling against the wall. He was not even heard to speak or make any sound and was dead when the men went and lifted him up. Several holes were made in the roof by the broken stone. The body was removed to the Guild Hall to await an inquest. Mr. Leesing was 50 years of age, and one of the most prosperous tradesmen in the town. He was highly respected, and his tragic and sudden death has created a great sensation.
