Public Benefit Boot Co
Most of this section of St Sepulchre Gate was demolished for road widening in 1914 but this is one of two buildings which survived. It was designed by Gelder and Kitchen of Hull for the Public Benefit Boot Company which had been founded in Hull in 1875 and then expanded rapidly. This branch was constructed in 1897- 1898. It is brick with stone dressings and has lots of interesting detail . The most notable feature is the clock tower. Figures support the clock face. Note too, the inscription 'Omni Labor Vincit' which means ' Labour overcomes all things' .

Our next building is on the opposite side of Printing Office Street. This magnificent building was started in 1937 and is perhaps the most remarkable Rounded Corner Building in Doncaster.
