Hall Gate/Prince's Street
This is a remarkable corner building constructed to the designs of architect William Lindley in 1796. Although you have to look carefully to see it, it was built as two houses, not one, with the other entrance on Princes St. Lindley designed many buildings in Doncaster but this is his only known rounded corner to survive. He lived in one of the houses before he moved to Pillared Houses.
It has bow windows extending through three floors, an ornate doorway with urns and a balustrade above.
Notice the stonewalling below the ground floor windows, and the small shell-like mouldings below the second-floor windows and the lead rainwater hoppers.
